Minerva Learning Ltd. ('Minerva', 'we', 'us', or 'our') is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about users of our platform in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong ('PDPO').
We collect information you provide directly, including: name, email address, phone number, payment information, academic or teaching qualifications, background check data, and any other information you voluntarily submit during registration or use of our platform.
We use your personal data to: provide and maintain our services; process payments through our escrow system; verify teacher qualifications; match students with suitable teachers; communicate with you about lessons and platform updates; and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information with: teachers (relevant profile information only); service providers who process payments (Stripe) and verify qualifications; and law enforcement or regulators when required by law. All third parties are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Our platform uses cookies to maintain session state and remember your language preference. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. You may disable cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect some platform functionality.
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Account data may be retained for up to 7 years after account closure for legal compliance purposes. You may request deletion of your data at any time, subject to legal retention requirements.
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Payment data is processed via Stripe and Minerva does not store your full credit card details on our servers.
Under the PDPO, you have the right to request access to and correction of your personal data. To exercise these rights, please contact us at privacy@minerva.hk. We will respond to your request within 40 days as required by the PDPO.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on our platform. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
